In January 2004, The Choose Life Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to a group of community leaders to help people, from Blue Hill to Jonesport and Mount Desert Island, living with cancer. This grant provided the impetus to establish a cancer resource program and facility for patients, their families, and supporters.
The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in June 2004.
